What Is Stellar (XLM)?

Stellar is an open-source payment blockchain designed specifically for international transfers to make them fast and affordable. If Bitcoin is primarily viewed as a store of value, and Ethereum focuses on smart contracts, Stellar was meant to move value across borders. Stellar was founded in 2014 by Jed McCaleb and is supported by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation. The foundation monitors open-source development and promotes financial inclusion. Stellar technology was also used in IBM's former World Wire payment project to show how blockchain could streamline international settlements between financial institutions.

How to Buy Stellar: Platforms and Payment Methods

Buying Stellar follows a similar process across most platforms and typically takes less than five minutes for card purchases once KYC verification has been completed.
