Swap Failed, Stuck, or Returned an Unexpected Amount
Crypto swaps involve several moving parts that affect the result. We are talking network fees, token prices, liquidity, swap routes, and slippage. If a parameter changes between the moment you receive a quote and the moment the swap is executed, the transaction may fail, remain pending, or return a different amount than you initially expected.
If your input asset was deducted but you don't see the asset you expected to receive, don't start another swap yet.
Why Did My Swap Fail?
You Don't Have Enough Crypto for the Network Fee
Blockchain transactions require the network's native asset to pay transaction fees. More complex swap routes, including swaps that pass through several liquidity pools, usually require more gas.
What to do: make sure you have enough of the relevant network assets available for fees, for example, ETH on Ethereum or BNB on BNB Smart Chain.
There Isn't Enough Liquidity
A swap needs sufficient liquidity for the pair and amount you're trying to exchange. If there isn't enough available liquidity, the swap may fail or the available rate may become significantly worse for larger transactions.
What to do: try a smaller swap amount.
Why Did I Receive Less Than the Quoted Amount?
A swap quote reflects the price and available liquidity when the quote is generated. It isn't necessarily the exact amount that will be received when the swap executes.
The final amount can change because of market movement, available liquidity, and the slippage tolerance applied to the swap. If the amount received is lower than the initial quote but remains within the accepted slippage range, this can be normal swap behavior.
Always review the minimum amount you may receive before confirming a swap. This shows how much the output can change within the conditions you've accepted.
What If My Swap Is Stuck?
First, find the transaction hash and check it using a blockchain explorer for the network where the swap was made. If you're not sure which explorer to use, see “Why Is My Incoming Transaction Not Showing in Guarda?”.
If the transaction is pending, it has not yet been confirmed by the network. Network congestion or a network fee that is too low may cause transactions to remain pending longer than expected.
What to do:
Firstly, do not repeatedly submit the same swap while the original transaction is still pending. If the explorer shows the transaction as successful but Guarda still displays it as pending, refresh the wallet and allow it time to retrieve the latest blockchain information.
Why Was My Input Deducted, but I Didn't Receive the Output?
Check the swap transaction on the relevant blockchain explorer before assuming the funds are missing.
Verify:
- The transaction status
- The network used for the swap
- The output token and its contract address
- The address that received the output
- The amount transferred
The output may have been delivered differently from what you expected, or Guarda may not yet be displaying the updated information.
Don't make another transaction to try to “reverse” a completed swap. Confirm what happened on-chain first.
If the swap is confirmed on-chain but the amount received differs significantly from the amount expected after accounting for the accepted slippage, contact official Guarda Support.
Include:
- Transaction hash
- Input token and amount
- Output token
- Expected output amount
- Amount actually received
This information allows the support team to check the swap route and transaction without needing access to your wallet.
