How to Sign a Transaction With ERA in Guarda

Once your ERA hardware wallet is connected to Guarda, you can initiate supported actions through the Guarda interface while keeping transaction signing on your ERA device.

You can use your connected ERA wallet for supported actions, including:

  • Sending and receiving crypto
  • Swapping supported assets

Availability depends on the blockchain, asset, and action you're using. This guide uses a Send transaction as an example. The signing process works similarly for other supported actions.

How to Sign a Transaction

Guarda prepares the transaction, but your ERA device is responsible for verifying and signing it. The transaction is transferred between Guarda and ERA using QR codes, so your private keys don't need to leave the hardware wallet.

In Guarda

  1. Open your connected ERA wallet and select “Send.”
  2. Enter the recipient's address and the amount you want to send.
  3. Check the network fee and transaction details, then select “Next.”
  4. Guarda will display the transaction details and a QR code.

On Your ERA Device

  1. Open ERA and select “Scan QR.”
  2. Scan the QR code displayed in Guarda.
  3. Scroll through the transaction details shown on ERA and verify that everything is correct.
  4. Select “Approve.”
  5. ERA will sign the transaction and display a new QR code.

Always verify the transaction details on your ERA device before signing. If the recipient address, amount, network, or other details aren't what you expected, don't approve the transaction.

Back in Guarda

  1. Select “I Got It.”
  2. Show ERA's QR code to Guarda and let Guarda scan it.
  3. Review the transaction details once again.
  4. Select “Send.”
  5. Guarda will broadcast the signed transaction to the blockchain.

Why Are There Two QR Codes?

The first QR code transfers the transaction from Guarda to ERA for verification and signing. After you approve the transaction, ERA creates the second QR code containing the signed transaction. Guarda scans it and can then broadcast the transaction to the blockchain. Your private keys remain on ERA throughout the process.
