How to Receive Crypto

To receive crypto in Guarda, share your wallet address or QR code with the sender. You can find both in your wallet. Don't share your private key, recovery phrase, backup, or password to receive crypto. When you share them, you put your funds at risk.

Where to Find Your Wallet Address

  1. Open Wallets in Guarda.
  2. Select the wallet you want to receive crypto to.
  3. You’ll see your wallet address next to the balance. Click it to copy the address.
  4. If you want to use a QR code instead, open Receive. From there, you can copy the same address or download its QR code.
  5. Share the address or QR code with the sender. Before the transfer, make sure you and the sender are using the same network.

The address and QR code contain the same receiving information. The QR code simply lets the sender scan the address instead of copying it manually.

If you want to receive a particular token, tell the sender which token and network to use. A parent wallet address can receive both the network's native coin and tokens on that network. For example, sharing your Ethereum address doesn't tell the sender whether you expect ETH or a particular ERC-20 token.

How to Share My Address Safely

Sharing your public wallet address doesn't give another person control over your funds. They can't spend your crypto using the address alone. However, transactions recorded on public blockchains are available to be viewed by anyone. If you publish your address together with information that identifies you, other people may be able to connect that address to you and follow its public on-chain activity.

You can share your public address to receive crypto. Keep in mind that publishing it openly can make it easier to associate your identity with your on-chain activity.

How Long Does It Take to Receive Crypto?
