How to Send Crypto Privately

Most blockchain transactions are publicly visible. Anyone can look up a transaction and see the sending address, receiving address, amount, and other information recorded on the blockchain. Guarda's Private Transfer adds an intermediate step between your wallet and the recipient. This makes the direct connection between the sending and receiving addresses more difficult to track.

How Does Private Transfer Work?

A regular crypto transfer goes directly from your address to the recipient. With “Send Privately,” a trusted exchange partner acts as an intermediary: Wallet—Intermediate address—Recipient. When you start the transaction, you send the funds to an intermediate address provided for the operation. The partner processes the transfer and sends the corresponding funds to the recipient address. As a result, there is no single direct on-chain transaction connecting your wallet address with the recipient address.

Sending privately includes an additional service fee. Before sending, make sure to check the fees shown in the transaction details. Guarda displays them separately as the network fee and service fee, along with the total fee you will pay.

Sending privately doesn't make blockchain transactions invisible. The transactions involved in the transfer are still recorded and visible on their respective blockchains. The feature adds an intermediate step that makes the direct connection between sender and recipient harder to trace.

How to Send Crypto Privately in Guarda

  1. Open the wallet you want to send crypto from.
  2. Click “Send.”
  3. Enter the recipient address and the amount you want to send.
  4. Select “Send Privately.”
  5. Review the transaction details and the additional service fee.
  6. Confirm the transaction.

If you use Guarda's Private Transfer, you'll find the transaction in your history marked with a privacy icon—the one that looks like a spy with a hat and glasses.

The transaction details show the hash for the transfer to the intermediary address used to process the private transaction. The hash and address you see there won't match the recipient's address. The intermediary receives the funds first and then sends them to the final recipient.
