What if I forget my password? I see a message saying that my password is invalid.

Guarda is a non-custodial service that does not store any of our customers’ private information: private keys, backup files, or passwords. Due to this, we are unable to help you recover your lost password – we have no way of knowing what it is.

I see a message saying that my password is invalid.

This means that your password does not decrypt the backup file you imported, so they don't match. You can think of it as a door and a key, where a locked door keeps your funds safe and a password opens the door like a key. If your key does not open the door, you are probably using the wrong key (your password) or trying to open the wrong door (another backup file).

How can I access my wallet then?

You have three options:

  1. Try to find the correct password. You can guess the password as many times as you want, the number of attempts is not limited.
  2. Check all the backup files you have saved on your device. Import one by one and enter the password.
  3. If you have your private keys saved separately, you can create a new Guarda wallet and import back all of your currencies. You can read how to do that here and here.

If you still cannot access your wallet, we will not be able to help you recover it. None of this data is stored on our servers, you are the sole owner of your funds.

Please be extremely careful about how you manage your password so as to avoid losing it.
