Why Can't I See My Old XMR Transactions?
Monero takes privacy seriously, so your XMR transaction history isn't simply sitting there waiting for Guarda to retrieve it. At the end of the day, Monero works differently from transparent blockchains such as Bitcoin.
Because of its privacy model, your wallet needs to scan the blockchain to identify transactions related to your keys and calculate the correct balance. That's why after restoring or importing an XMR wallet, you may see an incorrect balance or notice that some older transactions are missing. But your XMR hasn't disappeared at all.
How to Find Your Old XMR Transactions
If you know approximately when you first used the wallet:
- Open your XMR wallet in Guarda.
- Select the date from which Guarda should start looking for transactions.
- Choose “Scan.”
- Wait for the scan to complete.
Choose a date from before your first XMR transaction. Guarda will scan the blockchain from that point forward and look for transactions associated with your wallet.
Selecting an earlier date is safe, but the scan will take longer because Guarda has more blockchain history to process.
Scan From a Specific Block
If you already know the block number you want Guarda to start scanning from, you can use it instead of selecting a date.
- Open your XMR wallet.
- Select “Scan from block number.”
- Enter the block number.
- Start the scan and wait for it to complete.
Not sure which block number to use? Select a date instead. Choose a date from before your first XMR transaction, and Guarda will determine where to start scanning.
What If My Balance Is Still Incorrect?
Once the scan is complete, Guarda should display the transactions it found and update your XMR balance accordingly. If an old transaction is still missing, try scanning again from an earlier date or block number. This gives Guarda a wider range of Monero blockchain history to check.
If you've scanned from before your earliest transaction and your balance or transaction history is still incorrect, contact the official Guarda Support.
